At the Pre-Primary level, Plato’s Academy emphasizes play-based and experiential learning. Teachers monitor each child’s developmental milestones—focusing on communication skills, motor coordination, and social-emotional growth—and maintain regular communication with parents to ensure a nurturing environment.
From Grade 1 through Grade 4, we follow a two-semester system that includes periodic tests and summative assessments. Continuous and formative assessments form the basis for tracking each student’s progress. Detailed reports are maintained, and parents are encouraged to consult teachers and the Head of School in cases of underperformance. Final promotion decisions are made by the school after reviewing each student’s needs.
For Grades 5 to 8, a combination of continuous/formative assessments (internal grade) and a semester-end summative assessment (exam grade) determines the final score. The internal and exam grades are weighted at 60% and 40% respectively, with an additional Effort Grade reflecting the student’s diligence. Passing marks (35%) in First Language, English, Math, Science, and Social Science are compulsory for promotion, and grades range from A to F, where F is below 40%. The school’s decision on promotion is final, ensuring students receive the support necessary to succeed.
